Good evening, folks. It's time to put some work back into THE SITE. With the Minecraft server and other potential crazes going on, the site has been left behind, a shell of what it once was. Even the chatbox has taken a massive hit as well... from what I see, 3-4 people is max we get for the majority of the day. First off, credit to this idea goes to Zero Flare. She PM'd me an interesting proposal; We should have a drawing contest. Now, I know what you're thinking: "Blahblah only like 3 people on the site can draw" and "i can't even draw a stickman" etc. But this isn't no ordinary drawing contest, no, this is a contest for those who are unartistic, uncreative, and generally failures in the art department. A second complaint is another classic: "I don't have a scanner/camera" and "I don't have fancy equipment and programs to this sort of thing." Well, what we will be using is something everyone should have. MS Paint? Almost... the chatbox has a doodle feature which you are all aware of, I'm sure. That is where you will be drawing your art! Judges will be people who can draw well: Zero Flare offered to be a judge, and she nominated Shanks and Cop to judge with her, if they would like. There will be 2 categories to keep things interesting: Solo: You draw your art by yourself in Doodle/MSPaint. Nobody can help you, outside of giving constructive criticism and tips. Group: You can gather up to 3 other people including you to create an ultimate drawing of amazing proportions! Make sure you guys agree on what you will draw! Winners in both categories will get their lovely drawings posted on the site, along with his/her/their name(s) along with a special little token on your profile which, every time you post, will label you as amazing (horrible) artist(s)! Runners up in each category will simply just get the token, but their art will be featured in this topic. RULES 1) Spectating during art creation in Doodle is allowed. HOWEVER, unless the group/person gives you permission to edit or help their drawing, DO NOT DRAW ON THEIR STUFF. Also, DO NOT DELETE their drawing unless they give you the go ahead. Doing either of those is Trolling and punishment will be dealt accordingly. If you do that when you have entries in your contest, all your drawings submitted before and after will be void, unless allowed by a judge/myself. 2) You can enter as many doodles or art as you wish in both categories! 3) The entire contest will last from the time this topic is posted until sometime after Christmas (Date is TBA), to give enough time for everyone to potentially submit something. 4) Judges can enter the group category only, and only 1 judge is allowed per group. (ie. If there is one Judge and 3 people making a drawing, that is A-OK. If there are 2 Judges and 2 people, no go.) 5) I'm unsure how judges are going to mark the drawings: However, I'm sure some artistic ability will count for something, and humour will obviously also play a big role in getting a good mark. 6) Text is allowed in a drawing (like a comic, sort of) but only if it doesn't take up a bunch of space. This is an art contest, remember; If you want to write, Acolyte's writing contest is still taking submissions And that should be all for now. Once again, thank Zero Flare for the idea. Hopefully we can get a handful of people involved; Sure, the SMP server is fun, but don't forget about the forums and chatbox

Woah, that was fast. I didn't think you'd post this up either! Thanks for getting that done super-fast, Foxie. A couple of things to clear up: As this is a Zelda forum, I'd like the entries to be Zelda themed. Any character from any of the games is accepted, whether you are directly copying a piece of official art or posing the character yourself. Entries can be either coloured or lack it (although, keep in mind coloured entries will be more aesthetically pleasing). Also, Waterfox, about the prize - what did you think of my idea for it? I can't really tell by your post where the winner's work will be posted, and I was just wondering if you approved of the idea I had concerning the chatbox banner. As for the marking scheme, drawings will be judged on the following factors :- ~ Line art ~ Colouring ~ Form/3D Each category within the marking scheme will be scored out of 5, and the judges will rate each aspect (example; colouring was given 3/5 in Billy Bob's drawing). The drawing with the highest amount of points is obviously declared the winner. Lastly, the deadline will be 28th December. I placed the deadline well into next month with awareness to the actions being taken in order to increase the active member count. Should we receive any new members some time soon, this deadline will give them plenty of time to enter if any interest in the competition is taken. And remember - this is all about fun, as it is an art competition, and a rather silly one at that, so don't take it too seriously! : D
It would be preferred, yes. Just to keep all the entries on the same level regarding effects and colouring. I should also mention now that entries should not be edited with Photoshop, GIMP, or any other image-editing program. I think that clears it all up... again, thanks for posting that, Waterfox. Sorry about the couple things I had to ramble about there, I didn't think you'd post this so soon! xP |

Where's your prize monies now, Stixx?! ![]() And yes, the idea of putting the winner's drawings up in a banner that links to the chatbox on the front page is a good idea. Should have mentioned that, but I was in a rush typing the OP... Edited by Waterfox, Nov 24 2010, 02:22 AM.

Well, just make sure your drawing has been drawn with Doodle or MSPaint. For your previous question on colouring, well, any colouring will do. That's up to you to decide! Whatever you think works best. Also, I forgot to mention that entries should be PM'd to myself, Shanks, or Cop. We'll get together and decide on the winner shortly after December 28th. |

Intriguing concept! Don't think I'll do it though, I'm just not artistic at all.
