Minecraft is a game where you can build anything. And I mean ANYTHING. It's free to play, but you can pay for an upgraded version of the game (new modes, blocks, etc). It can not be expressed through words, so screen shots I took will do. House completely surrounded by lava. No idea what this is. Looked like a giant underground arcade or something. ![]() Did somebody say pool of lava? ![]() And last, a Master Chief I found.

I heard a lot of good things about this game, but I don't get what all the hype is about. |

Perhaps expressing it through words WOULD help...I don't get it given the screenshots. It seems like digital LEGOs. |

I think I've heard about it, though. I believe that a friend of mine's little brother is obsessed with it. |

It's hard to describe with words because there's so much to say about it. If anything, I suggest trying it out for yourself. http://minecraft.net/ |

I have played this game for 18 hours in the past 3 days, and I can't seem to get enough of it! There's so much to do. It's like the perfect game. |

Two screenshots of my current project: A pit mine extending nearly to the maximum depth of the map. ![]() Directly adjacent to the mine is a rock tower reaching the clouds (the transparent white blocks in the sky):

Sed, you'll be happy to know that I eventually successfully registered, and bought the alpha version. I've already convinced a few friends to get it, too. Multiplayer will be awesome. |

Awesome. Multiplayer in Alpha is still a bit buggy from what I hear, but it works nonetheless, and we have to try it out. |

A few hastily-taken screenshots of my map. I was planning on taking more, but I had about ten minutes to take them before I was kicked off the computer. These screenshots display parts of the mine I have been working on since I first began using this map about two weeks ago.![]() The pit mine seen in one of the above pictures. Changes include a very basic cobblestone bridge used to uphold a set of minecart tracks. These tracks connect to the underground cave mine seen in the following pictures. Originally I intended to have two sets of tracks side-by-side, but I have since discarded this idea due to the staggering amount of steel required to contruct such a large railroad. ![]() Another picture of the railroad, somewhat deeper into the ground, though not officially inside the mine yet. ![]() Welcome to Station Alpha! This is the mine's primary hub of transportation, and also stores all minerals, ore, and other valuable items that have been discovered in the depths of the mine. Still in its early stages, it exhibits many makeshift structural eyesores, namely the overuse of cobblestone and poorly placed lighting. While some of these cosmetic challenges will be addressed, a certain degree of ruggedness and asymmetry will remain in order to contrast a cleaner, more elegant project which I will display no pictures of until its completion. Seen on the left is a minecart train, currently loaded with cobblestone. Where is its intended destination? Far, far away. ![]() Station Alpha also has a furnace room, where all smelting of ore takes place (and the occasional cooked ham). A steady supply of coal is fundamental to the operation of this room. ![]() The entrance to the vault, containing copious amounts of every valuable item the mine has supplied. You are not allowed to see how exactly the vault is arranged, sorry. Fun fact: That vault is completely encased in a layer Obsidian, the hardest material to penetrate that I have at my disposal. ![]() A short trek away from Station Alpha we find The Pits (no need to comment on the very original names), a series of vertical holes that have produced a rather large amount of diamond and redstone while digging them. ![]() At the bottom of The Pits, one comes across bedrock, signifying that you can dig no deeper downwards. The base of these pits were then extended horizontally, and a tunnel was carved out. ![]() The entrance to Operation Reach Out, an expedition to create a series of tunnels at the lowest point in the game that branch out over a large area, to hopefully obtain large quantities of the rarest minerals and ore. This tunnel connects directly to the tunnel seen in the previous picture at the base of The Pits. ![]() Operation Reach Out quickly uncovered several enclosed, lava filled caves, but what can you do but make dangerous pathways that trek straight through them? At this point in taking my screenshots I was kicked off the computer. More screenshots are to come in the future, even if nobody cares. Future screenshots will display other scenic locations of my mine, my dirt dump used to dispose of all the essentially useless dirt extracted from the mine, and my underwater glass walkway. And a bridge. Here's a bonus screenshot: ![]() I was in a relatively deep, lava-filled cavern, and I was desparate to gaze upon the Sun once more. In a pinch, I decided to take 18 blocks of TNT and just fucking explode my way up to the surface. Well, mission accomplished! The cave happened to be underneath the ocean, and a large amount of water spilled in. As is the typical result of flowing water coming into contact with a pool of lava, nearly the entire surface quantity of lava was transformed into Obsidian. I quickly worked to dam the ocean from continuous spill, and removed all the Obsidian and slowly restored the cavern to its previous hellish state. The Obsidian removed during the process was then used to create The Vault mentioned above, with much excess. Edited by Darxidium, Sep 3 2010, 12:33 AM.

Could use some skylights. You've really been getting to work on that base, though. Hopefully in the future minecraft multiplayer, I'll be able to see it with my character. |

I want my mine to feel as shut-in and claustrophobic as possible, and skylights would ruin the affect. And yes, it is my hope that we will be able to use singleplayer maps online as well. |

My map isn't as interesting as Sed's, but here's what I've been working on the past two days. The images are kinda weirdly sized because I had to crop them from my other monitor's screenshot. ![]() Just a front view of my current base. ![]() A look inside the middle level of my base. It hasn't really been renovated since the beginning of the game. ![]() That's my mineshaft over there. This is B1 of my base. ![]() I decided 3rd person view would be better for pictures. A look down my mineshaft. I'm not too happy with the results. I want more diamonds. ![]() Another front shot of my base. My lava moat is pretty visible in this one. ![]() This is the top of The Watchtower of Glory, my project for the past couple of hours. I'm fairly happy with it, but I'm sure I'll change it around a bit. Pretty sweet view from the top of the map. I like it. ![]() A shot of the area in front of my base, and the waterways I built. I'm pretty happy with my map. Edited by Stixx, Sep 5 2010, 06:19 PM.
