If you'd like to know why, simply watch this video: 3D Dot Game Heroes That should be all you need to know. It really reminds me of Paper Mario meets Zelda, which is several levels of awesome. If it continues to interest me I can bet I'll pick it up (My bet is it'll be a PSN title). The only thing I don't like is the camera angle. I think this game would work better if it was a top-down view then what they have right now, but that's just me.

No, it's going to be a Blu Ray disc game, not PSN. It's pretty much the closest anyone has gotten to copyright infringement of a game and putting it in retail without getting sued. Well, not really (lolfpsgames) but still. Even the music is the really similar... Also, happily enough, it's only 40 dollars, and not the overpriced 60.
