Uncharted II: Among Thieves
Released Oct. 13, 2009
PS3 Exclusive
Score: 9.5/10

Uncharted 2 is a Action-Adventure TPS created by the Developers Naughty Dog (who also made Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter, 2 hardcore series).

The story begins with protagonist Nathan Drake bleeding to death on a train car hanging off a cliff. It isn't told why he is there or why he is inching towards death. But a flashback a little later shows Nathan with 2 other thieves/treasure hunters, Harry Flynn and Chloe Fraser. Flynn's client wants something from the museum, and Flynn asks Drake for help. So, Drake and Flynn go together to break into an Istanbul Museum, Chloe and Drake are in a secret relationship behind Flynn's back, and characters from the previous Uncharted make appearances.

The Gameplay is very solid, with many elements from other games mixed in. You control Drake, often with a AI controlled partner character, climbing, fighting, being stealthy or... climbing. Those 3 are the main elements of these games. The climbing is well done and easy to use, but after a long time climbing may get stale and annoying, especially in the few chapters where it's pure climbing, nothing else.

The fighting and stealth is very well done. You control Drake in third-person through fights. Enemies, if you are stealthy enough, can be taken out in one hit, with Drake sometimes yelling out a silly one-liner to attract enemies (this is funny, but annoying, especially in the later levels where you are fighting tons of enemies at once). Drake can carry a small gun, a big gun (such as a machine gun or an RPG) and up to 4 grenades. The enemies range from hilariously easy to downright annoying (My favorite being the "Moss-12" guys as I call them, with extremely strong armour and a powerful shotgun that can take out Drake in once hit on the higher difficulties).

There are 5 Difficulty levels, Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard and Crushing. I recommend Hard for anyone who is a little seasoned in shooters and is going for trophies, and Normal mode for newer people to the TPS/shooter genre. Crushing is unlocked after you beat Hard Mode. It's the "Expert" or "Veteran" mode of this game, with Drake getting killed in 3-4 bullets. Almost like real life! Hahah.

Multiplayer is also included in Uncharted 2. With a decent internet connection it is fairly easy to find a game. Game modes range from the traditional death match (5vs.5) to more teamwork modes such as Plunder, and a Co-Op mode by itself, with you and someone else fighting through a level against many AI baddies.

The Graphics are superbly done and it's easily one of the best looking games this generation. The scenery is wonderful, the characters don't look stiff, the cutscenes (which take up about 90 mins of the game w/o skipping them) look superb and nearly movie quality.

Voice acting is very well done, with very fitting actors for the characters (I believe it's Nolan North that voices Drake?) and once again, gives it a kind of movie quality.

The only problems with the game I find are some of the climbing sections, in which tilting the control stick in even a slightly wrong direction sends Drake to his death. The Final Boss, while fairly epic, was very poorly done, and where the controls of the game are really a hindrance than a help.

Uncharted 2 is a must have for any PS3 owner. It's easily a contender for GOTY and the story is very enjoyable all the way to the end.
My Score: 9.5/10 (95%)

He doesn't die, fools!
Nathan Drake is like god. He's been near death like 32923932893 times and has survived.

I've just torn a hole in Cop B-)

Very well.

As your close mindedness continues rot your brain, everyone else will be playing Uncharted 2 and filling that void in their life.
You will regret it!
