The "Year's End" Plan; Important topic, please read

 Well, we are only 60 or so days away from the end of 2009. A very successful year for CotS. I thank everyone who's been active in the last 10 months, and I hope we continue our legacy into 2010 and beyond.

But first of all, I have some issues I'd like to talk about. I'd like everyone to read this.

- Our current situation, we apparently have a possible resignation by our Wind Sage (Moderator), AlphaWindja. It's really sad to see him go, and while I understand not everyone liked him, he was a very good member and was there since the beginning.
So, in the next week or two, we will be looking for potential candidates to fill in this position. If you want to see the best suggestions for being nominated, considered, and even ending up in our Sage vote, please read my first post in THIS TOPIC.

- Another problem that has arisen over this year is "drama". Yes, I know, we all don't want to talk about it at all. But it really is an issue that needs to be brought up. Since our member count has risen over this year, we have different personalities and people visiting the site now, and some of these people may not mix well. Which results in a serious flame war, dubbed "Drama". We've almost lost a couple members over the year to this, and we were very lucky they all came back in the end.

So from now on, anyone who attempts to start or participates in drama will be dealt with. Temporary bans will most likely be the punishment, but it really is up the the Staff. We all like a good joke once in a while, but people need to know the limit before it gets out of hand. I think everyone, including me, has all learned that limit. Still, let's be cautious, as I really don't want to punish anyone trying to bring about chaos.

- Our domain name. Now this isn't too big of an issue, but I think we will be redeeming our .com domain when our December payment comes long.
However, I have thought about switching to a .net domain, not only to save money, but for quicker site loading times, and maybe a more "authentic" forum feel (I know it sounds silly, but I haven't come across another forum like ours that uses .com, most use .net). I haven't made up my mind on this so far, and I don't think anyone would really care.

Oh, and contrary to the popular belief, our forum will still exist if we choose not to make our domain payment. Don't believe me? http://s1.zetaboards.com/chamberofthesages/ is a default link that will always take you here, always, domain name or not.

- Ad Removal. Yet another small thing, maybe I'll consider buying $20 of Ad Removal for the site as a Christmas gift. More to come on this as time passes.

- "Zathyus Forum Awards". Some of you might not know, but a couple weeks ago we got invited to a forum award contest, or something of the sort. People vote for the best sites in that category. Voting does require an account at ZB forums, which I strongly disagree with, but if you want to support CotS, make an account HERE.

- Member forum clearout. THIS IS IMPORTANT. On December 6th, I'll be clearing out unused member forums. If your forum is inactive but you don't want your member forum cleaned out, contact me via PM. There must be fresh posts no older than 2 weeks old as of December 6th in your forum to prevent it from cleaning.

- I find that Site Extra's isn't as used as much as I thought it would be. While I won't do anything, I strongly encourage anyone to write reviews, make guides and show off their artwork so we can add more member contributions to our Site Extra's list.

- Our rotating advertisement at the top is pretty neat, huh? Maybe you'd like to advertise something up there? Well, if you do have something you want to show, PM it to me and if I approve, I'll add it to the list. Note that none of the advertisements should break any site rules or Zetaboard ToS rules in any way.

- I find we do have a slight problem with spam. If this continues I'll disable post count in the Castle Market forum. Sure, while the Erotic Spam topics can be amusing from time to time, note that it should not always be the main focus of the forum.After all, that's why we have a chatbox. So, I would prefer if we toned down those topics a little bit to focus on something a little more serious.

Now, I'd also like to extend a couple thanks to some select people for their great contributions this year:

Lotus - Her RP, The Beginning, The End. She's worked on it for months and has put in a great amount of effort into it. It's really gotten members interested in posting and her artwork is amazing. Give her a round of applause!

SL92 - Our custom skin. He made our current default skin (CotS Azure) back in August, and it is a real nice work of art. The skin has really given us our own image, and we no longer need to use cruddy Zetaboard Theme Zone Skins. Give him a round of applause!

Over 20,000 forum posts (including Daily Poll posts) before Dec. 31

And if we can manage both at the same time, well, I'll be really proud of everyone.

Well, that's everything in the "Year End" plan covered, pretty much. I hope that some people gave this a good read and considered the site needs and the future of the site. Let's hope for a good rest of 2009, and a great start for 2010!

 Thanks to the RP and all, I can see the 20,000 post mark being reached. I mean, look timespitter4.net, it got from 25,000 to 50,000 posts pretty quickly and with only 20-30 completely active members. I think it's somewhere in the 60K range now. It's barely two years old (July 2007, if I recall right), I think. Speaking of which, I think you're right about the .net thing, even though sites like KHI are an oddity. (It has great load times, despite being a .com Then again, I think it's supported by a huge server (that costs 100s of dollars, if not a 1,000 or so) or something.)

Anyways, thanks for the site (and to Lotus, the RP) I look forward to killing you all soon helping you reach the 20,000 mark and beyond soon. Hi-ya!

Edit: Disable it if you must, but you could always also make a little sub-forum (named for a random shop in the game, in Castle Market) for it to, though that's probably a bad suggestion.

'Sacred Moon Station" was a horrible choice in words. Delete it when you feel like it.

We did have a spam forum before, but I considered it a waste of space. I prefer to avoid subforums if possible.

Thank you for allowing me to post my RP here as well as for participating. I've put a lot of work into it so far and have much more in the works.

I'm currently working on a sub-project, something to help everyone learn more about the NPC characters within the story, as they're currently quite enigmatic.

On the topic of spam: please, please make a subforum or something. I hate posting nonsense and knowing that it's unfairly contributing to my overall count. It shouldn't, plain and simple. None of those silly erotic topics or anything similar should go towards anything other than mindless fun.

 Yay, drama to be dealt with. Not that it plagues CotS, but still.

Also, I kind of started to attempt to make a non-default skin for here and HS but school put a grinding halt to that. Might be nice, if it turns up finished some day, to have a bit of variety, eh?

 Sounds like everything is all planned out.

I would say that the way things are going now we should be able to at least reach the post goal.
