Are you two done comparing internet genitalia yet?

We understand, Waterfox, that you run things and that you've put a lot of time and effort into making the forum. I respect that, and you have every right to be upset if someone with an important position just up and vanishes. But you could have worded that a little better in all honesty. Saying people are "just here" isn't a very nice thing to say because without us being here, there wouldn't be much at all.

What everyone is asking is that you perhaps stop overreacting about this little drought in activity. It happen to any small forum like this. It's around the time of year where people have gotten settled into school, the clubs and sports teams are starting up, and people are busy studying and doing homework. It isn't the end of the forum, it's an expected lull. Don't worry, it will pick back up soon.

First of all, yes, I do have an attachment to this site. It's easy for everyone else not to, because, well, you don't run the site. You are just... here. You're all just members. Who gives a shit if Neko leaves, right? Well, I'm doing my best to keep this place up and running, and a person just disappears without notice for a decent period of time, especially a STAFF member, during a time where we are struggling for posts and activity, is a big deal. But you guys just treat it as a whatever. Everyone here is too damn casual about everything, and when something that threatens the site happens (READ: The Lotus Incident, August 2009) we have no damn clue what to do about it.

Before you all start "ganging up" on me just because you don't have the same views on the situation as mine, go run a site for 2 years and have one of your top posting and active members leave the site without telling anybody, for good. Then you can start talking to me.

And this time, it isn't partially my fault.

You, as a person that runs the place, should realize that pestering someone about their absence isn't going to make the place look warm and inviting. For ANYBODY. It will make us look like an internet street gang. How is calling someone out, especially a staff member, going to persuade them to return or anyone else to join?

And what's all this about site-threatening incidents? You referred to another situation where ONE person left, followed by... oh wait nothing bad for the site happened afterward except maybe a slightly lowered overall morale which didn't last long at all because people moved on.

People are ganging up on you because you aren't making any sense and yet you somehow do so with confidence...

I somewhat agree with Waterfox. Neko, as a Sage, moderator, and long-time member, owes the site at least some indication as to whether he's leaving or not.

This isn't a topic complaining about the site activity decrease. That is the one below this one. Also, sorry for my poor choice of wording before.

I've hardly done any pestering at all. I haven't called him out, stalked and gone looking for him at all, and even though I said I would, I've decided against it. It's YOU guys are pestering me for my "not making any sense", as you have said. I believe that I'm doing something right in wondering why he didn't tell us so long ago why he was going for a break. I guess I really don't like it when people just leave without a message.

I believe it's best to end this argument right here, because we are going in circles. I've stood my ground and shown my points, and you guys continually tell me the same things about how I should take this with as much seriousness as flipping a coin and how I'm just being crazy with my counterarguments with each post that goes by.

All we can do now is wait and see what Neko will end up doing.

I generally take a few days off (from here and other places as well) every now and then, so I can understand Neko. In fact, I think I took a break or two from HS, despite once being mod and maybe Admin, one of those times. (In the end, I had myself demoted, because I didn't like the responsibility and wanted to reason to go away for a few weeks.) Oh, and on a similarly-named (It's called TNR to.) board, I'm still a mod, despite going away for as long as a month (or more) at a time. However, that place is far less active than here. It still gets posts and has several (10, at least) active members, but it's too inactive for my tastes, so I only drop in every now and then.

Ultimately though, I have a good excuse for going inactive in some places, while being active on others.. less time for being on multiple sites. Whatever I feel like being on most on a certain day is what I'll be on and if I stay away from another place for up to a week, if not more, then so be it. Working on the various assignments I get weekly takes time away from how long I can be on.

'Sacred Moon Station" was a horrible choice in words. Delete it when you feel like it.

The Juggernaut. I agree with him. It's pretty much a middle finger to the face when you just get up and leave to another site because "you're bored". Seriously, people are lacking in manners these days. Abandonment for something else/someone else is rude and a huge negative in my book.

I love this one, because without members, there'd hardly be a site worth caring for. Don't get all uptight in your position, as I thoroughly hate that about some admins. I mean, I make skins and crap for forums, but don't bitch about when someone doesn't use them and how long it took me to do it.

I also thoroughly hate e-drama about nothing. Ultimately, Neko visiting another site affects little other than himself. Not only that, but the first post in this thread, and the purpose of which, is to apologize for his inactive-ness. I could see reason to feel a little shunned if he up and quit without telling anyone, but this is molehill-mountain garbage.

I honestly think that we should all just drop this and see what Neko does. This is becoming an argument between the whole forum with more than two sides. At this rate, some people may leave and then Waterfox really will have something to complain about.

So can we just abandon this thread before we lose anyone else? This is probably the worst thing that we, as a small quiet forum, could be doing during a posting drought.

Yeah, sorry about rubbing my internet crotch in your face, Fox. You know I love you. Neko's just stepping out for fresh air, it's okay as long as he comes back.

To sum up my thoughts:

Meow left without telling us and that sucks and was quite rude. Oh well.

Well, SL, in a nutshell, you are just a member. But each and every single member, excluding the ones that never post, has a different quality that they bring to the site, which creates a community worth returning to. I can see what I said offended you, and I apologize.

Also, Neko has always visited Unlimited Adventure prior to his unannounced leaving. I too, long ago, visited a site I used to frequent quite often, and we both still had time to be just as active here. And while he did make this topic to, uh, apologize for an absence he should have told us about 3 weeks ago, this topic has basically here just to tell us that he knows that we know he has been missing. Nothing else. He didn't give us an approximate date even, which is a bit odd, considering it's in his control. Like I said above, there is nothing more to discuss until Neko actually gives us his decision, or is gone long enough we need to make it for him.

Zero Flare, I really don't think that someone would really leave the site over a fairly mild argument topic like this. And if someone does, well, there are better things to leave the site over, methinks :P
