I'm going to to a review of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, because I said that I would about a year ago, and I figure that I may as well do it already. I'll try to keep the format simple. (This review is only 200 days late! Literally! I actually counted!)

Introduction:

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was released April 13, 1992 in the US. It has been subsequently re-released on the Game Boy Advanced (December 2, 2002), and the Wii's Virtual Console (January 22, 2007). This game has been rated one of the best of all time. Here's my take.

Story: 9/10

Link, the now well known protagonist, is awakened in his bed by a telepathic message from Princess Zelda, who says she's trapped in the Hyrule Castle dungeon. Link goes to Hyrule Castle, directly disobeying his Uncle's orders. He finds his now injured Uncle, who tells Link to go save Princess Zelda, and gives Link his sword and shield. Link manages to find Zelda, and they escape through a sewer that leads to a sanctuary.
The man in the sanctuary tells Link that Agahnim is planning to break the seal to the Dark World, by sending the Seven Sages that made the seal to the Dark World. The only way to stop this is with the use of the Master Sword. To prove that he's worthy, he needs to collect three pendants.
Once he collects the pendants, he draws the Master Sword, only to get a message from Zelda that she has been kidnapped. Link arrives seconds too late, and Zelda is sent to the Dark World. Link fights Agahnim, and is also sent to the Dark World.

Now he is faced with the task of saving the Seven Sages, so they can break the barrier around Ganon's tower. He does so, and with the seal broken, Link is able to fight Agahnim again, who then turns into Ganon. Ganon turns into a bat, and flies away. Link chases and finally fights him at the Pyramid of Power. Link defeats Ganon, touches the Triforce, and Hyrule is restored.

I gave this story a solid 9/10, because, with the limitations of the SNES in mind, it really immerses you in the land of Hyrule very well. This basic story has become the traditional Zelda story, because it works that well. It's not a novel, but that works quite well for video games.

Graphics: 9/10

This game looks beautiful. The art style is excellent. The Light World is bright and happy, directly opposing the dismal and dreary Dark World. The sprites are crisp and well designed. Everything flows perfectly.

Gameplay: 10/10

This game has excellent gameplay that the series has become known for. You go through dungeons, acquiring an item in the process. You then use the item you received to beat the boss. There are all kinds of other things for you to do, though. You can challenge a Cucco to a deathmatch (the Cucco will win, always). You could also grab some rupees in one of the minigames, like the digging minigame, or the gambling minigame. Why don't you try running into a tree? Something good might fall out, but the tree might not be too happy with it. Why don't you look for some heart pieces? There's also the Chris Houlihan room, which is a secret room in the game that was presented to the winner of a Nintendo Power contest.

Sound: 10/10

This game has one of the best musical scores of any Zelda game. The songs always fit the situation. After playing for a bit, you'll find yourself humming one of the songs without realizing. There's nothing else to say here. Buy the game and listen for yourself.

Replay Value: 7/10

Zelda games are so good that you can finish the game, start a new game, play all the way through it, and still not be bored. However, if you don't want to start a new game, Link to the Past does not hold as much of an appeal. It's always fun to boot up the SNES and (attempt to) kill a few Cucco's, but there's not much else for you to do.

Conclusion:

There's no reason for you not to buy this game. It's one of the best games of all time, and you'd be doing yourself a favor to play it.

Good review.
I've tried playing that game several times. I just get bored with it before I get too far.

Are you sure? I've seen up to around five in a ZetaBoards forum. There could be a restriction opinion in the Admin CP, but I doubt it.

Anyway, nice review.
