Bon Jovi is Metal? lolwut
It's more in the rock section. It's not even hard rock! (I might be listening to the wrong songs though, since I've only heard songs from Slippery When Wet)

Metal nowadays means the the guitarist needs to shred really fast/drummers need to drum blast throughout the song/singer needs to sound like a bear
Not meaning to stereotype, since I enjoy some Metal songs quite a bit myself.

 I think it's fairly obvious what I mean. It's what the term originally meant. I don't like the things people call Rock now, like Nickelback, and I also don't like the stereotype of Metal meaning Death Metal/Underground. It's also, in my opinion, the best, but that's a given, since it's the music I listen to.

Also, in response to Waterfox, sorry about that. Switch Bon Jovi and Blue Oyster Cult around. Theoretically though, Bon Jovi could be considered a hair metal band, because, like I said, metal isn't really as heavy as people think, according to the original terminology.

 It appears you are biased towards the opposite opinion. See, that's the thing about opinions. Theoretically, they're all biased, from the point of conception onward.

Look up biased. You'll see what I'm getting at. Then again, if you do, there will surely be some definition that contradicts what I'm saying. Dictionaries nowadays...

 Various kinds of metal, but mostly thrash metal. Metallica, Testament, Sepultura, Artillery, Anthrax, Exodus, Megadeth, Death Angel, Dark Angel, Pantera, Iron Maiden, In Flames. Those are basically my favorites.
