Well, now that 08' is over, I want to see what you guys think was the best movie of 2008. There will be lots of "The Dark Knight" posts, I'm sure... While TDK was very good, I liked Ironman a little better. The ironman suit in the movie was awesome btw, I would love one of those. TDK does take the cake for "Most Suspenseful". The boat scene at the end of TDK was epic, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Also, Ledger played a real good Joker. RIP Heath Ledger |

I wish I had of seen more movies, but regardless, TDK probably still would have been my favorite. I'm not a fan of holding a popular opinion, but honestly, there's just no getting around it - Ledger's performance was too unique and outstanding not to warrant TDK the position of "best" movie. Of course, it wasn't solely due to the Joker, but he was certainly a primary component. I'd have to give second and third place to There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men, respectively. Both are fantastic and unique in their own way. While Ironman was good, I don't think it can even be compared to these three. EDIT: It seems NCFOM came out in 2007, but hey, close enough. MORE EDIT: I'd have to give WALL-E at least 4th place. Everything about that movie was heartwarming. Edited by Balore, Jan 2 2009, 05:15 PM.

The Dark Knight, although I was skeptic of the hype, turned out to be one of the greatest films I'd ever seen. It wasn't afraid to delve into the minds of the characters, and take itself seriously. Really, really refreshing for a comic book movie, it makes the rest seem shallow. |

Having not seen the Dark Knight yet, (Yeah, I know. @_@) I will have to say my favorite movie was Twilight. Although it wasn't the best movie, as this thread suggests, it was my favorite, and I am a huge fan of the books.

The Dark Knight and Ironman were both very good, but I'd have to go for TDK because it was more suspensful, and all the characters were amazing, whereas Tony Stark was the only good character in Ironman. |

I'm going with The Dark Knight. It was a bit more suspenseful and the plot was better. Also, I liked the fact that it felt more deep. However, I stilled enjoyed Ironman, I just liked TDK more. |

No. My vote for best movie of 08 goes to Rambo. Hell yeah. Doesn't come near matching the awesome of the original, but it's Rambo. Rambo V on the way! I've never been one to agree with popular opinion. |

Actually, since people are generally stupid and don't care about much past gratuitous violence, most would probably rank Rambo above movies like TDK, which is very unfortunate. |

Rambo isn't just "gratuitous violence." I have a feeling you haven't seen it. But I appreciate the insult either way. |

I have seen it and it is just gratuitous violence. That's not to say it isn't a good movie, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking it's award-winning material. |

I'm sure a lot of excellent movies were released in 2008, but of the ones I saw, Dark Knight was far and away the best. Suspenseful, dramatic, powerful, and of course, Ledger's performance (Eckhart, the guy who played Harvey Dent / Two Face, also did a very good job). Plus, it had probably my favorite exchange I've seen in a movie. Joker: Wanna know how I got these scars? Batman: No, but I know how you got these. *Fires arm-needle things* |

Like I said before, it was nothing compared to First Blood, and probably not award winning material, but out of the picks for 2008, I'd have to go with it. None of the other movies this year were appealing to me. |

I find that baffling, considering there were a lot of great ones this year. |

Last year. I suppose I have an odd taste in movies. One movie that did look interesting was the Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but I don't even know if that's showing yet. |
